Abstain From Following a Bad Crowd

Do you sometimes feel as though you can't stop following your friends and associates who choose to do and say wrong things? The Bible says in Romans 12:2, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed (changed) by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will (decision) of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." (NKJV)

Proverbs 22:24 says in the Bible, "Do not make friends with the hot-tempered, do not associate with those who are easily angered." (Today's NIV).

Depending upon what type of friends you follow, friendships can lead to unwelcomed problems, or they can lead to positive support (reinforcement) systems and helpful advantages. This verse points out that there are two different groups of friends. Those who follow the right path and are being transformed (changed) to reflect a good character, and those who do not.

James 4:4 says in the Bible, "Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity (enemy) with God? Whoever therefore want to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." (NKJV) This basically means that a person who is friends with unrighteousness and sinfulness is against God, our Creator.

Being transformed (changed) by the renewing of your mind simply suggest that your mind has a lot to do with the choices you make. To be transformed is to be changed and renewed. The mind is the battlefield between good and evil, a place where the enemy of God influence people to follow his wayward plans.

The fraudster (enemy of God) puts thoughts or suggestions into the mind to cause people to turn away from the goodly and righteous deeds of the inner person. That means, a war is constantly being waged in the mind to influence a person to choose what is wrong or to follow what is right.

If you fall victim to the wrong suggestions, ideas, or choices, what you do will be a sign of that. God opens His heart to your confession through prayer. He hears you tell Him that you are sorry for your wrong deeds and are willing to change your ways. He forgives you for doing wrong and applies His righteous life to yours. That's grace.

What Are You Talking About?

As young people, we have a unique and distinctive culture. We see life differently from older adults; however, we must find ways to communicate with adults and others in view of what we believe in a non-challenging way. If our views are to be seen as relevant and meaningful, we must communicate in a way that make sense to our listeners.

Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ, says it simply to, "let your conversation be always with grace (favor) and never dull (boring); study the best way to talk with each person you meet." (Colossians 4:6). In other words, "Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don't miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out" (Vv 5, 6) (The Message Bible paraphrase).

So, let's abstain from using filthy slang and unbecoming language. People should not have to wonder what we are talking about. We need to find ways to communicate in a positive, and Christ-like way, using language that is clear and harmless, on every cultural level. With that said, this applies not only to young people, but to everyone. Let's abstain from bullying, cussing, put-downs, teasing, and negativity, as well.

The Bible tells us that we will have to give an account for our words in the judgment. (Matthew 12:36) Let's be selective in what and how we say what we say.

Abstain from Playing With Fire

If you are always having sexual thoughts, you might find yourself occupied with some physically wrong behavior, such as looking at pornography,

(Click picture) fantasizing on sexual relations, sexual deeds or encounters, promiscuity, beastiology, self-manipulation, or something else of a sexual nature.

There is an old saying, "If you play with fire (lust), you're sure to get burned." So, if you're playing with fire (sexual or lustful thoughts or activities), decide today to stop with the help and strength of God in your heart, and gain a pure and healthy mind and life.

If you want to change your way of thinking and your wrong behavior, begin today to pray to God. Invite Him to lead you as you read, study, and memorize Bible verses (Biblegateway.com) that will help you to gain control of your thoughts. Praying (simply talking) to God and asking Him to give you understanding, and then meditating on what you believe the Bible words are saying to you, will help you to become familiar with what God expects of you. Think about how your Bible reading applies to yourlife and those you interact with.

If you are not familiar with the Bible, find the book of Romans and begin to read Chapter 6. Then read the book of 1 John. Take a few minutes everyday to read different passages from the Bible by topic. Pray and ask God to help you to understand the Bible, and to change your thoughts and your ways to please Him. Before long, you will begin to recognize that God is transforming (renewing) your mind and ultimately changing your life for your good.

YOUR BODY AND STRESS

Abstinence from Harmful Stressors

God, our Creator, made our bodies an incredibly complex system of mass made up of tissues, blood, the lymph system, the nervous system, and many other parts, structures, and elaborate cellular systems. The Bible says we are "fearfully and wonderfully made."

It is intricate, sophisticated, and finely designed to be balanced. If something goes wrong with the lymphatics, the blood, the abdominal area, the digestive system, for example, the entire bodily system is affected. If we bump our head hard on a cabinet door, or hanging lamp, it can affect our whole body. We might have a headache, feel nauseated, faint or dizzy, it affects our whole body.

The body can be traumatized by a number of affects and it will affect the whole system.

One of the worst health problems in our nation today is stress. Many suffer from a poor digestive system, nervous tension, and other related stressors. Our modern lifestyle, fast pace schedules, financial needs, peer pressures, and bad eating habits seem to contribute to a lot of stress today. When we feel incompetent, frustrated, out of control, we experience stresses that put a strain upon our body and mind, affecting our digestive system, causing poor absorption, headaches, and other problems.

It does no good to treat the ailments that come from stress without considering the cause(s) or the basic problems that manifest themselves in various parts of the body without considering the whole body.

Teen Hygiene is very important as teens grow into adults. Teen body odor is embarrassing. From head to feet, the whole body needs good hygienic care which must be implemented daily. During puberty, girls and boys go through many changes. Girls are normally horrified when it comes to periods (menstruation). After puberty, guys might not be too concerned about body care. Hopefully, these videos will shed some light on these matters.
